Engineering Standards (Tier 2) | Nexload SDK

Tier 2 skills serve as the Engineering Hands of the ecosystem. While Tier 1 decides what problem to tackle, Tier 2 enforces how code is implemented, structured, and reviewed across TypeScript and web codebases.

1. TypeScript Implementation Standard (nexload-code)

Section titled “1. TypeScript Implementation Standard (nexload-code)”

The primary standard for writing and refactoring TypeScript.

  • Core Engineering Mission: Produces the smallest correct, reviewable TypeScript change. Enforces type narrowing at trust boundaries, explicit lifecycle ownership, minimal abstraction debt, and honest verification.
  • Mandatory Configuration & Standards: Requires strict adherence to @nexload-sdk/eslint-config and @nexload-sdk/typescript-config. Enforces canonical folder layouts defined in the Canonical File & Directory Structure Standard. Can be initialized across any project using the Universal Agent Setup Prompt.
  • When to Use: Everyday TypeScript implementation, function refactoring, strict type modeling, boundary assertions, and local bug fixes.
  • When NOT to Use: Detailed React UI hooks/state; package release publishing; high-level CTO architecture approval.

2. Publishable Package Integrity (nexload-package)

Section titled “2. Publishable Package Integrity (nexload-package)”

Governs packages intended for npm publication or monorepo sharing.

  • Core Engineering Mission: Enforces dual ESM/CJS compatibility, clean package.json exports subpaths, external dependency restraint, and bundle size discipline.
  • When to Use: Designing or refactoring packages in packages/*, editing package exports, managing peer dependencies, preparing releases, and diagnosing bundling issues.
  • When NOT to Use: Internal non-exported application code, feature styling, or database schemas.

3. React & Next.js Render Purity (nexload-react)

Section titled “3. React & Next.js Render Purity (nexload-react)”

Governs component architecture and lifecycle safety in React applications.

  • Core Engineering Mission: Enforces render purity, explicit state and effect ownership, Next.js Server vs. Client Component boundaries, and hydration safety.
  • When to Use: React component design, custom hooks architecture, eliminating effect synchronization loops, and Server Action security.
  • When NOT to Use: Backend microservices without React; bundler configurations; pure CSS styling.

4. Layout & Design System Preservation (nexload-design)

Section titled “4. Layout & Design System Preservation (nexload-design)”

Governs user interface presentation and design token systems.

  • Core Engineering Mission: Expresses visual intent through shared semantic design tokens, layout geometry, responsive constraints, RTL safety, and approved UI preservation during refactoring.
  • When to Use: Design tokens, CSS layout architecture, spacing systems, accessible surfaces, and UI-locked refactoring.
  • When NOT to Use: Component state management; backend business logic; build tooling.

5. Principal CTO Architectural Review (nexload-cto-review)

Section titled “5. Principal CTO Architectural Review (nexload-cto-review)”

A reviewer-only skill that acts as an architectural gate before merging.

  • Core Engineering Mission: Combines all foundational standards into a scored audit, approval verdict, and small set of high-leverage findings without writing code directly.
  • When to Use: Pre-merge pull request reviews, architectural audits, evaluating overengineering, and production-readiness signoff.
  • When NOT to Use: Writing code fixes directly; initial brainstorming; routine single-line formatting.
